In August 2025, Bidvest Noonan was awarded a significant all-island security contract covering Ireland’s national transport system, including services operated by Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail).
Contract Overview
Scope of the Agreement
For the first time, three of Ireland’s main public transport operators — Iarnród Éireann, Bus Éireann and Bus Átha Cliath (Dublin Bus) — are operating under a single, unified security arrangement.
Services Delivered
Under the contract, Bidvest Noonan provides a wide range of security services, including frontline and on-board personnel, mobile patrols, key-holding duties, and the opening and securing of stations. The agreement also covers security operations at Rosslare Europort, one of the country’s busiest ports managed by Irish Rail.
Workforce Transition
To ensure uninterrupted service across the network, more than 300 staff transferred to Bidvest Noonan as part of the agreement.
Contract Size and Term
The deal is being described as one of the largest security contracts ever awarded in Ireland. However, the contract’s financial value and duration have not been publicly disclosed.
Wider Context
The appointment follows Bidvest Noonan’s continued growth within the transport sector. In July 2025, the company also secured a renewed and extended multi-service contract with Translink in Northern Ireland. Across these projects, Bidvest Noonan has emphasised the use of technology-led and innovative security solutions to safeguard critical infrastructure and support the safe movement of millions of passengers each year.
